Vehicles collide at Maple Valley, Peck roads

Staff Writer

FLYNN TWP. — The Brown City Area Fire Dept. assisted at the scene of a collision between two vehicles towing trailers at the intersection of Maple Valley and West Peck roads Aug. 30.

The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office reported a 1998 Ford F-150 pulling a 12-foot utility trailer driven by 78-yearold man and his 74-year-old female passenger, both from Berville, were heading north on Maple Valley Road around 10:50 a.m. when the driver failed to stop at the signed intersection.

The truck then struck a travel trailer being pulled by a 2015 GMC, driven by a 67-year-old and his 66-year-old female passenger, both from Lakeport, that had stopped and was proceeding though the intersection.

The collision with the travel trailer caused the trailer to overturn in the roadway. The truck and utility trailer then entered the northeast ditch of the intersection and came to rest.

The Berville woman was transported to Marlette Hospital by Marlette EMS for medical treatment.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.

Sanilac County deputies were assisted at the scene by the Brown City Fire Area Dept.
