Muxlow, an outstanding junior guard/forward, scored a game-high 26 points, but the Lady ‘Skins dominated overall in a 46-29 victory.

Sandusky is now 2-0 in the division and 8-1 on the season while Brown City slipped to 1-1 and 7-2.

The Lady Redskins held Muxlow, and the rest of the Green Devils, to just two points in the opening quarter and broke out to a 10-point, 12-2, lead.

While Muxlow started finding her shot, Sandusky did not slow down and led by 18, 28-10, at halftime.

The Lady Green Devils tried to claw back behind Muxlow’s 18 second-half points, but they could never get closer than 12. Sandusky closed it out with a 7-2 run in the final two minutes.

North Branch edged out by Garber

North Branch’s return to the court on Thursday turned out to be a barnburner as they were narrowly nipped by Essexville Garber, 30-29. Autumn Deshetsky was the leading scorer with nine points, six rebounds and three steals and with eight points, 14 rebounds and one block was Janel Ruhlman.

Emily Ludescher put up five points and four boards and Reese Ruhlman totaled three points, one block, one steal and one assist. Carly Warda added two points, six rebounds and two steals and Kendall Wilson had two points, seven boards, two assists and a steal.

“Tonight was a great game by both teams,” said North Branch coach Timothy Gormley. “Our girls never let up for all four quarters. I’m proud of them for that. It was one of our best defensive games this year. We still have to iron out some things but the girls are getting stronger each week.” — B.P.
