Grant to allow Peck Police Dept. to get Taser gun

PECK — The Peck Police Dept. has been awarded a 50-50 grant to acquire a Taser gun for its force.

The Peck Village Council was informed of the news at its last meeting on Aug. 15.

The police department received the Risk Reduction Grant from the Michigan Township Participating Plan, a municipal insurance program.

The cost to the village for the Taser gun is $653.

In other business:

• Peck High School Homecoming has been set for Oct. 6

• Zoning permits were approved including: Jeff Warren, RoHo Avenue, movable building; and Village of Peck, 125 W. Lorraine St., fence.

• A zoning permit for a new home on Reynolds Lane is on hold pending receipt of a new drawing with the home centered as requested.

• Council member Carie Bennett gave the Streets and Sidewalks Committee report that crack filling has been completed on North Peck Street, West Rebecca Street, and North Bartlett Street.
